New Stuff!

Hiya lovelies.
Last week I ate out quite a few times. In fact ever since I've finished my exams, I've been eating out a lot more often. But I have not slowed down on my workout regime.

I didn't go spinning this week as it was Bank holiday I went out with my boyfriend instead. Tuesday I went Tone Zone, the original instructor is back and I was able to keep up with her 'hell' routine. We did a lot of squats this week, squatting constantly for almost 20 minutes!!!

Wednesday, morning my inner thigh muscles were hurting a bit from Tone Zone. Anyhow, I tried out Ultimate Abs class. It's not pure abs though, we did a bit of everything but concentrated more on the abs. It wasn't too hard. We started with some gentle and easy moves and gradually to harder moves. The hardest ones were using my core muscles to balance myself. I really need to improve my core strength.

Thursday, my inner thighs were in PAIN! I couldn't walk properly and couldn't walk up the stairs. But walking down the stairs was fine. My abs didn't really hurt, I could feel some pains in my obliques. I guess ultimate abs class was too easier to go to a difficult level one.

Saturday I went gym with my boyfriend, to the body building gym. Again he trained me hard. We did a little something different this time. We started off with some skipping and shadow boxing. I thought I was good at skipping but not until my boyfriend showed me the proper way of skipping. I had to skip non stop for 2 minutes (he was being easy on me there, he said I should be doing 10 minutes straight!!) single time. I struggled to pace myself and so I kept stopping. I can skip the 'little girl' way- whatever you call it lol! Also, the skipping rope my boyfriend had were quite heavy. My boyfriend use to do boxing so taught me some moves. It was a good warm up.

We used the bar quite a lot this time; power cleans, pull ups, and curls. Other exercises include; hip abductors, leg press, bench press, shoulder press, pull up and some back muscle workouts (not sure the name of the workout).

Food time

Guess what this is?

Quinoa porridge lol I cooked it with milk. Added some fresh raspberry and some granola. It was quite yummy actually.

I've made stuffed peppers with quinoa so many times so I decided to do it the Chinese style. Lettuce wrap quinoa.

Quinoa Lettuce Wrap
Half a red pepper
1/4 cup of peas.
5 fried fish balls.
1/4 cup of quinoa
1/2 cup of water.
Some lettuce leaves.

1) First cook the quinoa. Placing the water and quinoa into a pot and add some salt or stock for taste. Bring to boil. Then cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. I would suggest until most of the water is absorbed. Then take off heat and keep it covered for about 10 minutes, this will make the quinoa really grow big and fluffy.

2) Whilst the quinoa is cooking, boil the fish balls and peas until soft.

3) cut the fish balls into small bits and same with the red pepper.

4) Add a little oil to a pan and add the peas, fish balls and red pepper. Stir fry for a bit until hot. Then add the quinoa and stir well together for about 1-2 minutes.

5) Just spoon some to a lettuce leaf, wrap it up and munch!

As mentioned in my previous Homemade Almond post, we got a new blender. We used our previous one too much that the motor just won't start lol. My dad bought a Kenwood 3 in 1 Blender and comes with 2 other attachments; mill and smoothie maker. I love it!

My favourite is the smoothie maker (the one with tomatoes insider the container is a smoothie a maker), once you've blended everything just change the lid to a jug handle type lid (don't know what you call you it lol)

Voila!
The blender is really power, I only need to blend for about 10 seconds and everything is smooth. Here a couple of the veggie smoothies I had.

They both have tomatoes, carrots, red pepper, apple and manuka honey. I used some manuka honey with a higher UMF, 24+, this time. The honey was very thick and cloudy, it also tasted slightly bitter.

I mentioned eating out a few times last week. Yes, I ate on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Wednesday, I went to a really cool restaurant, Bubbledog, for my friend's birthday. We had lunch there before going to university. They serve hotdog and champagne. Cool right? The atmosphere in there was very classy. Even the waiters were dressed very formal. I had a BLT hotdog (bacon wrapped with caramelized lettuce and truffle mayo) and we shared some sweet potato fries and tots. I went to class slightly tipsy. lol.

Thursday, I went Big Easy A-GAIN but with my boyfriend this time. Sorry didn't take a picture, was too hungry lol. We picked the Thursday Special, £19.50 for 350gm  D-rump steak and 1.25lb Maine lobster served with a jumbo jacket potato, house salad and an ice cold margarita or beer. We also ordered macaroni cheese, onions and 1.25lb of jumbo shrimps. That was more than enough for the two of us!

Friday I wouldn't say I ate out. We out for drinks for my friend's birthday and had some snacks.  Yes, I drank quite a lot this week, well for me its a lot. As I don't really drink.

Saturday, I had Korean with my Thai friend. Beef and kimchee stew hotpot, seafood pack (bottom left) and dol bim bim bap.

How do you eat your quinoa? Any good suggestions?
